The elephant, a recurring theme in Ron English's work (see his "African Elephant" prints), appears surrounded by an aura of light blue, within an intense azure background and sharp orange contrast coloring. The social, political, and economic aspects inextricably linked to the plight of the African Elephant, fighting for its survival, are subtly alluded to by the use of black scale lines and bright dots, simulating a butterfly's process of metamorphosis. English's technique and use of vibrant color create an alluring multidimensional print. From Ron English, the artist who coined the term POPaganda to describe his signature blend of high and low culture, comes this magical, hyper-real color pigment print.
