In a practise spanning photography, sculptural installation, and audio, Anne Hardy is perhaps best known for her photographs of deserted interiors filled with intriguing objects. They are the result of a meticulous, time-intensive process of set-building: Hardy builds each set in her studio from scratch, using junk found outside her Hackney studio to suggest strange fictional narratives. Her vision ranges from the structure of the constructed space to the smallest of allusive details, which work together to suggest a host of surreal possible fictions. Revealing as much as they conceal, Hardy’s images invite the viewer to populate these mysterious spaces with their own narratives.
