Ryan Humphrey has exhibited at The Whitney Museum at Philip Morris, The Queens Museum of Art and The Kemper Museum as well as internationally. He received his MFA from Hunter College, attended the Skowhegan summer residency program and completed The Whitney Museum’s Independent Study Program. He was also a contestant on the first season of Bravo’s Top Design. Humphrey chooses materials and subject matter based on the idea that social strata can affect visual taste. The objects of daily transactions, transportation, and media–cars, skateboards, engines, cash, stereos, bottle caps, signage, furniture, boomboxes and the like–are transformed into thoughtful sculptural arrangements using the strategies of multiplicity, design and humor.
