"I was born and raised in San Diego, California and attended California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, California. I lived in New York City from 1982-1990, where I had a successful career as a cartoonist and illustrator for major magazines and newspapers from The National Lampoon to the Village Voice to Seventeen, the New York Times, and far too many more to mention. I wrote and illustrated five humor books, beginning with the bestselling “Valley Girls’ Guide to Life” in 1982. I met my husband, the painter Wayne White, in New York in 1984. I wrote the premiere episode of “the Simpsons,” in 1988 and an episode of “Pee-wee’s Playhouse” with Lynne Stewart, aka Miss Yvonne. In 1990 Wayne and I moved to Los Angeles, where I was on staff of the TV show “Designing Women.” In 1992 our first child, Woodrow, was born. In 1995 our daughter Lulu was born. I continue to do occasional cartoons for the Los Angeles Times, and in April 2014 the esteemed Canadian publisher of graphic novels, Drawn & Quarterly, will publish my 270-page graphic novel, “Over Easy,” about my late 1970s waitressing career in Oakland." - Mimi Pond
