I am happy to announce that I will be releasing a series of new prints. The first in the series will be two 22in. x 22in. prints of the works that I created for the astonishing Lubomyr Melnyk album, Corollaries. The original works were created with sumi ink and acrylic on porcelain coated steel. I am pleased to say that through much photographing and proofing of the prints, we were really able to capture the subtle and colorful grays that make this surface and material so appealing to me.
Lubomyr’s music seems to have no beginning or end. It always reminds me of these few lines from Hermann Hesse’s Steppenwolf:
… and it seemed to me that all through this music there was the radiance of this cool starry brightness and the quivering of this clearness of ether. Yes, it was there. In this music there was a feeling as of time frozen into space, and above it there quivered a never-ending and superhuman serenity, and eternal, divine laughter.
I tried to capture an element of the “starry brightness” and “superhuman serenity” within the circular composition and limited color palette. It was a rewarding experience to produce these works and I am happy to be able to offer high-quality and affordable versions of this work.
