What Richard Prince did for re-photography, Jessica Craig Martin continues to do for cropping: namely narrowing the viewer’s focus and reconstituting narratives to go beyond surface reading. Whether she’s shooting Cindy Sherman’s MoMA exhibition for The New Yorker or shooting a croquet story for Opening Ceremony’s annual magazine, Jessica remains at war with the obvious. Her work is in the holdings of The Whitney Museum of American Art, the New Museum, and the Guggenheim Museum.
