Hariton Pushwagner (nom d´artiste Terje Brofos, b. 1940, Oslo, Norway) has become a celebrity in his home nation, appearing regularly in newspaper headlines and television talk shows, renowned for his homelessness and hedonistic lifestyle, and compared to a modern day Edvard Munch.

He has exhibited widely in Norway, his international breakthrough came in 2008, when he exhibited his Soft City, a pictorial novel, at the 5th Berlin biennial for contemporary art (2008), which The New York Times named as ”one of the highlights” of the biennale. Pushwagner, educated at the National Academy of Fine Art, Oslo, was in 2008 invited to the Biennale of Sidney and also the Kadist Art Foundation, Paris, France.

In 2013 the exhibition “Pushwagner: Soft City”, a retrospective of his work were exhibited at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, the Netherlands. It was previously shown in the MK Gallery, UK and Haugar Vestfold Art Museum, Norway. The exhibition received rave reviews in The Guardian, Icon Magazine and Frieze Magazine. Pushwagner is also represented in The National Museum of Art´s collection. Pushwagner has his own Gallery located at Tjuvholmen alle´10, Oslo, Norway.
