A French guy that found his artistic way in the tattoo. He started tattooing when he was a boy (by hand at this time!!!) and has never stopped. He got his first tattoo machines in 1996 and began to teach himself most of what he knows today.
Lionel (out of step) started tattooing alongside NOON; "I can say that we made our apprenticeship together; discovering day after day some new tricks to go forward. A few years later we met a guy that was trying to develop the tattoo in a new way: Yann Black (your meat is mine). "He definitely changed our conception of tattooing. Artistic freedom was the new key."
The three of them created their own style, heavily influenced by "art brut", which is ever-evolving in NOON's tattoos.
Now, 14 years later, NOON describes his style: "My work is mostly based on the line, trying to portray what the customer desires as simply as possible, so that the rendering is always light and easy to wear… Most of the time, I am writing love stories…(you will not find any violence or dark side in my tattoos.) This is may be my French "romantic" side. I also like to use some abstract lines and patterns. My work is very inspired by french jailhouse tattoo culture, which has bold and basic lines that will hold up and keep their form for years…"
He is also a painter. As one might guess, he is a fan of "art singulier" (french art brut movement) that is still a little bit underground nowadays but is also expanding to a wider audience. As a fan, he is collecting such art and tattoos…
Now, he spends most of his time tattooing between NYC (tattoo culture), LONDON (Mo copoletta's family business) and BERLIN (AKA Gallery). He travels a lot, so you can also find him in Australia and Norway… "When I am not traveling, I work in the east country side of PARIS booking private appointments in my home sweet home…"
His work has been featured in tattoo magazines and art press all over the world.
In 2010, he was inducted to Bob Baxter's "Hall of Fame" of the 101 most influential people in the tattoo world...
