Layla Andrews is a Brighton and London-based artist, known for large, figurative, abstract portraits. Her works are characterised by rich colours, which she often blends by hand rather than with a brush.
Through her work, Andrews explores people, family stories and the natural world, explaining her eclectic style as a reflection of her mixed-race heritage and working class background and never quite feeling like she fits into a box.
Collected internationally, Andrews’ work has caught the attention of Stephen Fry and Barack Obama, who wrote to her personally to compliment her work and encourage her artistic career.
