Brit Art mainstay Darren Coffield is a graduate of the noted Goldsmiths University fine art degree course, naturally. In the early 1990s he founded seminal gallery Factual Nonsense, in the then far from regenerated east London, alongside the late artist Joshua Compston. Specialising in portraiture, Darren's famous works include a full-length portrait of right-wing art collector and former Institute of Contemporay Arts chairman Ivan Massow. His exhibition Ashes and Diamonds examining the Miners' Strike of the 1980s is showing at The Outsiders Newcastle in summer 2013.
