Louis Eisner is an American painter known for his diverse approach to imagery and subject matter. His best-known series, "Void Paintings" (2011), features large-scale ambient backgrounds with absent figures, creating portraits of "nothing." In contrast, his other works often include graphic and recognizable imagery, such as cartoon characters or vividly colored playground slides.
Eisner’s 2013 sculptural piece Leviathan incorporates cut-outs from MAD Magazine hung in a mobile, referencing Thomas Hobbes’s theory of social organization. He is also an active member of the artist-led collective The Still House Group.
