JUFE was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico in 1985. He attends the Central High School of Visual Arts in Santurce and graduates with honors in Sculpture, at the same time his interest for wall painting starts thorough the art of graffiti.
He is then accepted at the School of Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico where he completes two full years and develops his skills for space and forms perception. While designing he becomes attracted by continuous traces and line forms, the two elements that will define his style in the following years, and starts using ink as his main medium.
His passion for public art and his interest to improve his abandoned surroundings with visual embellishments, take him back to his beginnings, this time as a muralist.
In 2010 La Pandilla is born. Alexis Diaz and JUFE start the process of transforming their neighborhood with their unique technique of ink over wall. The use of black and white, astonishing animal-hybrids and their unique style set them apart from their local contemporary counterparts, level them with known international artists and get them a place in the US and Latin American street art scene.
Today JUFE is a professional artist; his style has developed into a refined form of intricate tracing, wire framing and pointillism. He uses blend of different painting surfaces and combines acrylic to give his color ways, immense quality of finish and depth to his pieces. JUFE has positioned himself amongst the best plastic artist of his generation in the island and continues his quest for improving what surrounds him with his unique art style.
