Richard Woods
Richard Woods transforms real surfaces into cartoon-like versions. His art combines art, architecture and design. He uses household gloss paint, plywood and laminate to transform urban buildings into mock-Tudor cottages; he coats concrete pillars with chinz wallpaper, and covers floors with crazy paving in different colours.

He has recently presented work at the Victoria & Albert Musuem, Royal Academy of Art, Bloomberg Space (all London); Turner Contemporary (Margate), Grieder Contemporary (Zurich) and Milton Keynes Gallery. In 2003, he participated in the 50th International Venice Biennale.

Over the past few years, he has undertaken a number of major projects that have included an interior for iconic designers Comme des Garçons flagship store in Osaka, Japan; and the transformation of Cary Grant’s former Hollywood residence for its new owner, art dealer Jeffrey Deitch. Works by Woods are held in major collections such as the Saatchi Collection, Arts Council England and the British Museum.
