JMR
JM Rizzi, or better known as JMR, has adapted a unique mixture of neo-abstract expressionism with hints of contemporary pop to create a style all is own. Originally hailing from Brooklyn, New York, JMR has grown up with the influences of street art and the established art world constantly around him. Through his own individual, hybrid street style, he has dedicated himself to helping art fit into the outside world. As he looks to demonstrate the scale and motion set forth by early abstract expressionists, he reinterprets the ideas within his own personal adaptation. Having participated in the highly successful 11 Spring St show in 2006 and The Underbelly Project in 2010, he has gone on to create building sized murals in New York, as well as large scale installations for Nike. JMR has shown with street art legends such as Blek Le Rat, Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Swoon, Faile, Haring, and Basquiat. And has been featured in various street art books and editorial publications such as The New York Times, The London Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Elle Japan.

“Basically, having an abstract shape and then coloring in blank sections is nothing new and is a style that I see repeated quite a bit these days. However, what is setting JMR apart from the pack is the color pallet, the “Murakami-esk” movement and personality and his ever more mature grasp on his style and form and the new ways that he can project that visualization onto a medium. That is why this works so well with textiles, his knowledge of perspective and design cater well to a functioning product. JMR’s work is growing more refined with every piece, and that growth and progression is exactly what collectors (and the art world) want to see. One can see the changes in technique between older works and newer works, a visual road map of an individuals career.”
