Levalet, born Charles Leval, is a French poster artist actively involved in street art since 2012. He has exhibited in galleries in Paris, Montpellier and Grenoble. The theater becomes visual art and takes to the road. Levalet’s works constitute a real mise en scène on the walls of French cities. A provocative street art that freezes faces, gestures and postures as it aims at showing contemporary scenes or atmospheres from the First World War. These works, better defined as “paste up” from the layering technique with which they are made, provide a photographic rendition of reality, which poses to accommodate the vitality of the items brought to the scene by the artist. Biting irony and social criticism alternate in the construction of a comedy of life. Not surprisingly, the most popular artists on social networks define themselves as “comedians”.
