Drawing inspiration from old photographs of Bonnard’s studio, he constructs witty compositions through the use of geometric pattern and vibrantly contrasting hues. Referencing French Post-Impressionists Henri Matisse, Pierre Bonnard, and Henri Rousseau, McAllister plays with the tradition of painting interiors, landscapes, and still lifes to create an illusion of three-dimensionality while remaining true to a flat picture plane.
