Not Our Type Darling- signed limited edition digital print with silkscreen glzaes by British contemporary artist Brad Faine.
'The acronym NOTD was popular in the thirties and forties, especially amongst the 'in crowd' of the period eg. the Mitfords. The text of this image is again an A-Z, only this time referring to the exclusive London clubs: the Atheneum, Boodles, the Chelsea Arts etc, plus a few literary mavericks such as the Drones and the Imperial. The main subject is the collection of numbered pool balls- the 8th being the Black (the one that can be used by members of the clubs' committees to prevent some of those who wish to join becoming members- NOTD). The pool balls are numbered from 1 to 15, as I wished to use 30 of them as forms, determining the colours so that no two similar spot (plain coloured) or striped balls were in the same row. The aim of the additionsl numbers was to gently ridicule the process by using significant, but irrelevant numbers for the additional balls ie. 42- the number for the meaning of life, the universe and everything, 99- the famous ice cream cone, 78- the number of cards in the 15th century tarot etc.'
