Daniel Heidkamp recently exhibited his Cherry Blossom painting series at NADA New York and in his solo show at White Columns in 2014, which Roberta Smith reviewed in The New York Times. To create Buddy System, Heidkamp translated sketches created en plein air at Central Park into a five layered silkscreen print, employing the traditional Japanese "bokashi" gradient technique found in the woodblock prints of Hiroshige and Hokusai and drawing inspiration for the blossoms from Andy Warhol's iconic Flowers silkscreen series.
