Using a variety of overlapping source material from the public domain, Augustus Thompson creates visually poetic collages within the privacy of his own studio desktop scanner and printer. Here, images selected from art history and the Internet meet against the background of an unmade bed, an intimate context for a seemingly random assemblage. Seen together in varying degrees of digital resolution quality and offset registration, the images form a cultural landscape–one that exemplifies his statement that "cultural interests can…bring people in and act like a common ground: something they know is also something I know."
