Timothy Hull
"Temple of Zeus"
19 x 24 inches
Signed edition of 50
$250
In his drawing of an Ancient greek temple, Timothy Hull manipulates classical architecture with optical illusion, a clever stroke by the artist who employs a pastiche of found imagery and limited palette to create paintings inspired by the ruin and artifact of Greco-Roman antiquity. Referring to his recent exhibition as a Critic's Pick, Artforum wrote that Hull "treats a mixed bag of cultural symbols" like urns, vases, glyphs, epitaphs, and found graffiti sourced from the Ancient Agora of Athens and Pompeii archaeological site "with both humor and reverence." Timothy Hull will present his second solo show at Klaus von Nichtssagend Gallery in New York City this January and his first solo show at Ashes/Ashes in Los Angeles in spring 2016.
