The Psychic Power of Animals, 2015

This print is a great example of Faith47's recent work, connected to the theme of purity, in reference to "aqua regalia," or "royal water," used in the alchemical process to purify metals. A renowned self-taught draughtswoman and accomplished mural artist, this South African's poetic imagery has graced many dilapidated and worn street walls and facades across Europe, Africa, North America, and the Caribbean. Often depicting wild animals or figures, her work connects to the social and political substance of inner-city life, blending the mundane and dreary with the hallowed, shifting the mood of urban environments. Her recent solo exhibition in London titled "Aqua Regalia" has garnered praise and peeked interest for her current exhibition "Aqua Regalia - Chapter 2" at the Jonathan Levine Gallery in NYC. This artwork is on a thicker stock of paper with deckle edges on all four sides. Deckle edges are intended to be imperfect, and each piece will have unique edge work.
