Lazzarini's interest in distortion is closely linked to his development of a unique creative process, to his study of historical art, and to his search for an expressive device that can suggest his fascination with what lies beyond representation.
In guard dog sign, the artist utilizes the iconic image of a guard dog, represented on an aluminum sign. The mathematical distortions are computer-generated, involving algorithms, with the intention of confronting and informing the viewer's perception.
The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum will introduce an exclusive limited-edition work by Robert Lazzarini in the Aldrich Editions series at the 2010 Editions|Artists’ Books Fair in New York City. The Fair will take place Friday, November 5 to Sunday, November 7.
