It's no wonder The New York Times mentioned Becerra's "rude, cartoony pseudo-Expressionist paintings" in a review of NADA Art Fair last May. The artist's approach both embraces and perverts traditional genres such as still life, portraiture, and the nude. His paintings verge on the sculptural; augmenting line, form, and color with the mass and texture of caked paint. Exhibition A is pleased to present a new print by Becerra, whose images the Los Angeles Times called "big, messy and downright beautiful" and Frieze Magazine pegged as "unapologetically reckless."
