"I became interested at looking how a child's life could potentially be defined by all the products and objects circling around them. The drawing Pharmacopoeia, shows a slightly more unhealthy looking baby surrounded by alcohol and mixers. Pharmacopoeia literally means drug-making, and i wanted to create an interesting look at the role alcohol has on a culture and how it can be seen to be intrinsically visible throughout someone's live, looming above, always there.
The drawing Pharmatopia depicts a baby surrounded by a kaleidoscope of consumer products that have become synonymous with health, upbringing, appearance and life and death. Each object is representative of the culture and illustrates the importance of the object in the stages of human growth and development. Most of the products show a dichotomy between life and death and the importance that they play in the early stages of life. " - Adam Batchelor
