The secrets of happiness, death, love

Marc Horowitz has returned to painting after pioneering years of exploring social practice through the maze of the internet with works such as National Dinner Tour and The Advice of Strangers. His paintings evoke the history of the medium and Old Master works, with a healthy dose of humor and lighthearted visual chaos. The secrets of happiness, death, and love has a cinematic structure, with smears of red shades, a lazy cloud and the haphazard eyes of the horse all presented as characters in a film still. Poised as if for editing, each element in the work is ready to move, alter, or reveal something hidden to its audience.
