Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei debuted his new work 'thinline' at 2017's Amsterdam Light Festival. The artwork span over a distance of 6.5 kilometres and encompassed the entire water exposition. With 'thinline' Ai Weiwei challenges viewers to think about the meaning of borders, figuratively as well as literally. Who determines a border? Do they protect or exclude? In addition to 'thinline', the artist created a number of smaller artworks exclusively for Amsterdam Light Festival. The 100 signed pieces, 'thinline, limited edition', are made of the same material as the original work.
