Royal lives and works in Brooklyn, which has shaped his affinity for the subject matter of his paintings. For a time, fire escapes were a place where he could find solitude amidst the busy world around. Jarmon fills his paintings with complementary suggestions, whether they are between painting techniques or conceptual values. These relationships make interesting possibilities for cohesion. The objects painted reflect life experience. Dark humor plays a role, but there is an ultimate interested in depicting the human condition.
In this print, the artist uses LEGO fire, plastic bodega bag, and water. Highlighting plastics in a juxtaposed setting; reflecting its effects on our current environment. This is also highlighted by the popular colors and content.
