ABOUT THE WORK
This print series, hand-finished with watercolor and ink, is based on a painting Attoe completed during the three-month lockdown at the start of the pandemic. According to the artist, "It's about the process of thawing after winter and the things that get revealed in that process. The skeleton is of this earth, but representative of the seriousness of the time, but the strange colors on the mysterious dome of snow have a less clear explanation. The painting - titled Spring 2020 - was about the uncertainty of the Pandemic and the social unrest of last spring. I finished the embellishments on this edition during spring of this year, and we're not much further along in terms of uncertainty and unrest, so it's titled Spring 2021. Each of these has a different pattern and constellation of colors on the dome of snow - echoing the layers of mystery and uncertainty that continue to be revealed."
