Hello there. Here's the first print that I've made this year, a wilderness of cross-hatched pen scratches teased into the form of a deeply-worn way through the world. And as this is, in my part of the planet, a cold, damp and kind of bleak time of the year I let some sunlight in at the outer edge. This drawing began, in another much gloomier form, as the cover for an edition of the 1939 novel 'Rogue Male' by Geoffrey Household. It's an odd sort of thriller, detailing the frenetic story of a lone hunter who decides to focus on a human prey, a European dictator who is un-named but bears many similarities to certain politicians of the time. The protagonist, also un-named, is caught, tortured, thrown off a cliff and left for dead. He survives though, and then is chased across Europe into England, where he eventually takes refuge in a Dorset holloway, his only companion a black cat that he names Asmodeus as he tries to stay hidden and outwit his relentless pursuer, a tricky customer named Quive-Smith... this print is called SOMEWHEN. If you're interested, the link below will take you to the Lost Domain where you can buy one. These prints are £100 apiece. Happy new year. I hope it's a better one.
