The past few years I've spent much of my time going through my film photos of graffiti, travel and various rich moments in time over the last 30 years. I've become obsessed with the attributes that film could capture, the textured emotional quality, saturated colors, unpredictable cropping and natural vignettes. All of these natural filters of film coveted today by the digital era.
With Hence (Vignette) my aim was to visually explore the dual definitions of a vignette in both film and literature. In photography it represents a darker border utilizing a blur or shadow at the periphery of an image while in literature vignettes are rich in imagery to create vivid, detailed descriptions of a moment in time and a character's instant experience.
