Well the success of my first print of the month (ok it's looking more like print of the quarter right now admittedly) had me wondering what I should follow up with.... My desire for each Cosmic Garage offering to be exclusive, new and well, special had created a rod for my own back it seemed. Then one afternoon I get an email from Cosmo Sarson. Cosmo had been a featured artist in the first Scrawl book way bck in 98 and after the usual howdo's and what the bloody 'ell 'ave yer been doin' all these years he announced that he'd returned to the fray and was once again making art. (Read all about Cosmo in Wot's in me 'ead).
It just seemed serendipitous to the point that it would have been churlish not to make Cosmo the next print of the month. What particularly appealed was that the print he was proposing (a breakdancing Jesus performing for the Pope) was a natural progression from the work in the book from 15 years earlier. The image is inspired by an old news story about the Pope being entertained by breakdancers on an official visit to Poland and apart from it being a great piece of work you never know we might annoy some bible bashers into the bargain.... I know it's like shooting fish in a barrel but they're so funny when they're outraged. Oh and before you all start asking, No! Cosmo Sarson can't get you free vinegar. Sheesh some people.....
