Announcing The 2nd Merlyn, a new artist edition by Richard Tuttle. Produced in conjunction with NYABF 2025 and available for pre-order. Orders will be available for shipping or in-store pick-up from Friday, August 29.
This limited edition was conceptualized by Tuttle specifically for the screen printing format and produced by Kayrock Screenprinting in Brooklyn. The print takes shape through a series of 60° angles interrupted by a window-like rectangle in the center.
The following is a text written by Tuttle about The 2nd Merlyn:
This Sweet Life Struggling to find the image that fits with the title, struggling to find the title that fits with the image, why should it be so hard to find two things that are the same, if they are equal?
The print, apotheosis of didactic, needs to rest on "this equals that." Who is in a position to see both this and that? The viewer of the print, is especially privileged.
How fabulous to conjoin the visual with the title and signing, combining the visual with how it is written. Is the image another way to write the title? Is the title simply another re-set button that says what is in our best interest?
Computerized serigraphy removes line, so light can be form.
