Titled after a song by the musician Julio Iglesias, Que no se rompa la noche recalls the music that once formed a backdrop to the Mallozzi family's domino and poker game nights. The artist traces the changing, personal significance of Spanish music from the 1980s and 1990s, which was first associated with childhood joy, then fraught with anxiety and anger, and finally deemed celebratory again as an adult. Featuring two male figures locked in a tender embrace, the work commemorates the gradual transformation experienced by Mallozzi's mother—from visceral rejection of her son's queerness, to eventual love and acceptance. For this limited edition series, the artist will use pastels and Flashe paint to add unique elements to eight prints.
