Loie Hollowell presents the first-ever limited edition print from her Mother's Milk series.
Painted in 2025, this composition belongs to a wider series of the same name that distils the artist's experience of breastfeeding into her signature language of bodily abstraction. At its centre, two overlapping circles form a vesica piscis, holding a drop of golden colostrum that symbolises the meeting of heaven and earth. An ogee evokes the breast in abstract form, while a sequence of circles represents a pendulum or sundial, tracing the passage of time.
The painting on which this print is based is a sculptural relief, built from high-density foam on linen over a Dibond panel and painted in oil. This 39-layer silkscreen echoes that dimensionality through an iridescent overlay mimicking the original's sponge-like texture, alongside matte and gloss varnishes and fine sparkle pigments. Each edition is signed by the artist.
