Cai Guo-Qiang explores quantum entanglement with his custom-developed AI model 'cAI™,' connecting strangers through time, space and chance.
In an artworld first, the artist and his longtime AI collaborator are releasing the works as paired compositions, exploring connection, transformation, and the quantum realm.
In reference to the Year of the Fire Horse, the base images use the motif of Pegasus, with a brown and a blue Pegasus making up each pairing. Cai will then ignite an individual fuse between every pair of prints, creating an explosion that will visibly mark the works with gunpowder – an important material for the artist due to its associations with both celebration and destruction.
Each Brown Pegasus will thus retain an intimate connection with the Blue Pegasus of another collector, through the visceral marks of their single shared explosion.
Due to the intervention of gunpowder, each pair of limited edition prints is totally unique. They arrive signed by both Cai Guo-Qiang and cAI™, with anonymised details of each piece's other half provided after purchase.
