The astronomical meets the astrological in William Eadon's Oh My Goddess, an image that objectifies the moon from man's perspective. Though distant, Eadon's unfiltered vision of second brightest object in the sky is expressed as "the eye sees the moon in the night sky, rather than show it close up or altered", the artist says. October is certainly a month where this celestial body is spotlighted for it's spooky or shape-shifting force. We like to think about this natural satellite and its reliable phases as the influencer on ancient and contemporary humanity in mythology, time, language, and our physical bodies. In this way an occult symbol becomes intimate, a distinct reminder that cultures past used only the stars as their guide.
