HENRIK SIMONSEN
Blue and Orange, 2011
84(w) x 84(h) cm
15-colour screenprint on acid free 300gsm Bockingford paper, edition of 60
As a personal fan of both his work and the artist himself, it's easy for me to write about Henrik Simonsen, who has in recent months become one of our most popular artists. When we launched his previous screenprint Red and Blue (now almost sold out) at The London Original Print Fair in the spring, it was the piece that sold the most, with almost every visitor commenting on its vibrancy and colour.
So here at Eyestorm we feel privileged to be publishing Henrik's most recent print, Blue and Orange, which we'll be officially launching tomorrow night at Multiplied Art Fair, Christie's South Kensington.
Arguably Simonsen’s best print so far, this piece is a stunning example of the artist's capabilities. What first hits you is how well the colours compliment each other; colour is a huge element and often the starting point of Simonsen's work as he chooses his palette exactly to make the image come together. The delicacy of the hand-drawn natural forms then becomes apparent as the artist continues to reference his Scandinavian roots and create the fairy-tale like imagery he's become recognised for.
Blue and Orange is available online from today at the launch price of £350 +VAT.
