"The idea behind this drawing is that I build a city based on and around my letters. I've always liked this idea and I gave it a first try last year with my drawing 'Streets'. This year I wanted to build on this: go bigger, better.
Basically, I incorporate elements from the city life that appeal to me, such as suburbs, underground systems and business districts. All these elements are built around my letters D, O, E, S. The gold leaf in combination with the black ink symbolizes the enormous contrast between wealth and poverty that you see in many cities.
