Hang Fire, singer and musician Beth Jeans Houghton's first ever print, features hand-painted text in a unique and personal alphabet she created when she was eight years old as a way of dealing with her synaesthesia, a condition which causes her to see letters as having their own colours.
Each print in the edition features a different line from her poem I Would Sit On Your Crypt written in this alphabet, and if placed together in the correct order would reveal the entire poem. Says the artist, "I like the idea of connecting the lines to each other in the face of distance, quite like the way two people remain entwined through shared memories, even when they are apart".
