Bristol-based Ian Francis creates spectacular high-definition images in luxurious colours. His inspiration is our pleasure-based culture and its distinct, but seldom considered, contrast with the all-too-grave reports of war, alienation and corruption also flowing from an omnipresent media. Ian’s exhibition 10,000 Years from Now, shown earlier this year at Lazarides Gallery, focused particularly on the comparative insignificance of our effervescent lives when compared to the ancient, still nature of planet Earth and the universe beyond.
A Red Sphere Grows, one of the most formidable canvases on display at 10,000 Years from Now is made available today as a fine art Giclée print. The process ideally suits Ian's characteristic colour palette and level of detail. Finally a silkscreen gloss has been applied to the print to further embolden its colours and provide a tactile matt sheen.
