Kasper Sonne
"TXC(exa)"
24" x 20"
Signed edition of 50
$300
Demonstrating the paradox of creation through destruction and the conflict between chance and control, Kasper Sonne imposes a chemically fueled metamorphosis onto his canvases by first building up a monochrome surface of paint–recognizably purple, blue, or black–with a roller, then pouring bleach, acid, and other aqueous solutions onto the painting while it lies flat on a draining mat. The pigments in the paint separate and react chemically into variations of pink, cyan and other hues, resulting conceptually in a work formed through it’s own dissolution. In this spirit the artist has destroyed the 24” x 20” painting made specifically for our edition so that “TXC(exa)” exists only in print.
