Joanne Greenbaum is the recipient of the Gwendolyn Knight Lawrence Award in Art from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Grant, and a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant. She was born in New York City in 1953 and received her BA from Bard College in 1975. Her work has been shown worldwide in spaces such as: Rachel Uffner Gallery and MOMA PS1 in New York; Armand Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, CA; in addition to London, Basel, Zurich, and Berlin. Residencies include the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and The Chinati Foundation. Her work will be on view in several upcoming exhibitions including “If You Throw a Spider Out the Window Does It Break?” at Brennan & Griffin in New York, opening July 20th, 2014, and her solo exhibition opens at Galerie Crone in Berlin, Germany in November 2014.
