Rene Ricard "is a semi-secret hero of American art and culture," writes VICE. Although once thought of as mainly a poet and art critic, Ricard began to develop his poems into paintings in the late 1980s, oftentimes repurposing old painted canvases from anonymous sources. Our new print edition is emblematic of his practice, with his iconic painted scrawl echoing in dark shadows atop a blood red backdrop. It is a facsimile reproduction of a painting, slightly altered in scale, and faithful to the same printing methods the artist used in later years. Certified by Ricard's estate, we are proud to continue to champion Ricard's work to loyal admirers and novice collectors alike.
